Wildlife Conservation in Africa (WCA)

The Annual Forum on Wildlife Conservation in Africa aims to initiate conversation among the

African Diaspora community and friends of Africa about how they can take an active and visible

role in supporting indigenous wildlife conservation efforts. Now in its fourth year, the

conference consistently brings together experts, diplomats, activists, and compassionate

citizens to discuss wildlife conservation efforts in Africa through the lens of sustainable

development goal 15 (SDG15). The conference intends to create a best-practice guide that will

Conference Agenda Structure

As the organizer of the Wildlife Conservation in Africa conference, African Symposium has

partnered with conservationists, non-profits, thought leaders, and activists to discuss key

conservation topics and foster lively debate on current and future action. This annual event

aims to encourage political and cultural advocacy that is inclusive of local communities at the

forefront of conservation efforts and supports grassroots action to protect biodiversity and

safeguard endangered species while protecting local livelihoods.

Each year, the forum selects a topic of focus and showcases conservation efforts centered on a

particular species and work by artists that highlight a particular animal. The conference is

opened annually by diplomatic representatives of two selected countries. In short, WCA plays a

significant role in bringing attention to endangered species, highlighting the contribution of

creatives to conservation, and directly involving high officials in discussions that shape the

future of our planet.

Vision

The annual Wildlife Conservation in Africa (WCA) conference aspires to influence conservation

policy at the governmental and continental level as well as provide an authentic and

independent platform for holistic discussions and information exchange accessible to everyone,

regardless of their background or education level.
